The Visiting Committee Program is comprised of 14 committees and councils. On average, 700 friends and alumni of the University serve as members of the Visiting Committees & Councils at one time. The committees range in size from approximately 10 to 95 members.
Visiting Committee & Council members serve 3-year terms; up to three terms. After the third term, unless nominated for life membership, a member must rotate off the committee for at least one year before re-approach. Each Visiting Committee or Council is staffed by one or multiple unit-specific development officers.
Together, the Committee Chair and the Dean/Director develop the agenda and programming for their committee meetings with assistance from the staff. Committees and Councils hold between 1 to 3 formal meetings during the academic year with several hosting additional salons and other committee events at other points throughout the year.
